Abbotsford Heat/KPU Eagles Athletes of the Week - February 9, 2014

Metro Vancouver, BC … Ali Bosir, men’s basketball and Amber-Lee Kavanagh, women’s basketball, are the Abbotsford Heat/KPU Eagles Athletes of the Week, for the week ending February 9, 2014. 

Kavanagh, a second year forward from Langley, BC, who scored 29 points including leading the team in scoring both nights, 16 points against Langara and 13 points against Douglas, recording 21 total rebounds, 5 assists and one steal.  The women’s basketball team had a big weekend as they swept Langara College Falcons, 57-54, Thursday night and Douglas College Royals, 62-49 on Saturday night to move into 6th place in the PACWEST conference ahead of Langara College on season series tie breaker, as both teams sport a 6-12 record with three games remaining. 

Bosir, a fifth year senior from Surrey, BC, scored 34 points, including a game high 24 against Douglas.  The veteran forward pulled down 24 total rebounds and recorded 8 team leading assists.  The men’s basketball team dropped a pair of games this weekend, 100-64, to Langara College Falcons and 96-83, to the Douglas College Royals, to fall to 3-15, tied with CBC for 7th place in the standings.
