The Cellar Hand position would assist our co-founder and Head Brewer with various tasks around our humble little microbrewery. This is an entry-level position with a solid opportunity for growth depending on the right fit. We are a small team and we wear a lot of hats, we expect the candidate to be resourceful and to have good problem-solving skills.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Cleaning (hoses, fittings, and yeast kegs (brinks), fermenters, conditioning tanks, bright beer tanks and yeast tanks / kegs)
Operating keg cleaner to clean/sanitize beer kegs
Transferring of beer from fermenters to conditioning tanks, or from conditioning tanks to bright beer tanks using sanitary procedures
Harvesting yeast into yeast tanks or kegs using sanitary procedures
Carbonating beer to be made ready for packaging when needed
Packaging of beer whether it be assisting on the canning line, or filling kegs
Cleaning of draught beer lines
Cleaning of the brewhouse
General cleanup and organization of brewery space
Accurate inventory tracking and occasional use of delivery vehicle to move product
Experience & Skills:
Physically fit, being able to bend, squat, kneel, and the ability to lift (up to 60 KG)
Comfortable climbing ladders up to 16ft in height
Comfortable working safely with and around cleaning chemicals used in the brewery
Base knowledge of high school biology, chemistry and physics as brewing concepts could be explained and understood quicker with those having knowledge of the above
Good work ethic, observant, and a willingness to learn, if not familiar with brewing
Good ability to communicate in English
Have a valid Serving it Right number
Pay Range: $20-$21/hour to start, depending on experience
