Brewing at KPU
KPU’s Brewing and Brewery Operations program blends science and hands-on experience, with a passion for craft beer. Students gain a solid foundation in brewing science, equipment operation, and production processes—all while training in BC’s only brewing diploma program offered by a university with a state-of-the-art, working brewery. Along the way, students who meet certain academic requirements may qualify to graduate with a Certificate in Brewing or continue toward completing the full diploma.
Who Studies Brewing?
Our students come from diverse backgrounds and bring more than just a love of craft beer to the table. Many are interested in science, engineering, business, food, or technology, and are motivated by the challenge of combining creativity with hands-on skill. Brewing is a physically active field, and students should be prepared to work in hot, cold, wet, or noisy environments, lift or move up to 50 kg, and spend extended periods of time on their feet. Proper protective gear is required at all times in the brewery and labs.
Craft Your Dream Career
BC’s craft beer industry is booming—and so are the career opportunities. Graduates of the Brewing program are prepared for roles such as assistant brewer, brewer, brewery operations staff, brewpub operator, and positions in sales, marketing, and more. With skills that translate to both local craft breweries and large-scale national or international operations, KPU grads are ready to launch exciting careers in this growing global industry.
