Student Health Promotion

The Student Health Promotion department was created in support of the Healthy University Initiative. The department recognizes that wellness is holistic and interconnected, and an iterative approach is required to address key priority areas for the university. As such, Student Health Promotion takes a proactive approach to not only address individual behaviours of KPU students, but also to identify and remove systemic and environmental barriers that impede student health & wellbeing. Activities and programs are aligned with Vision 2023 and focus on the six dimensions of wellness; physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual and financial.

According to the World Health Organization, health promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve their health. Health promotion highlights the interconnected relationship between individuals and their environments, and identifies that health is created and lived by people within the settings of their everyday life: where they learn, work, play and love.
