English Language Studies

KPU accepts these external test options for university admission: International English Language Testing System (IELTS), TOEFL iBT, Duolingo English Test (DET), and Pearson Test of English (PTE), Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Test, Canadian Language Benchmarks Placement Test (CLBPT), and LanguageCert Academic (LCA). You can find more information about external ELS testing options that are accepted by KPU in the university calendar.

You should take an English Language Studies Test if:

  • English is not your first language and you need to improve your skills.
  • You have not completed at least 3 years of high school English.
  • You have not completed English 12 or Communications 12, or if you have completed ESL coursework in high school
