Jen Currin

In addition to being an English Upgrading instructor, Jen is a faculty member of KPU's Creative Writing Department, where they have taught since 2010. Before KPU, Jen taught writing and literature for many years and at many places, including SFU's The Writers Studio, the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, Arizona State University, UBC, and Vancouver Community College. A poet and fiction writer, Jen has published two collections of stories, including Hider/Seeker (Anvil, 2018), a Globe and Mail Best Book, and the recently published Disembark (House of Anansi, 2024). Jen has also published five collections of poetry, including the Audre Lorde Award winner and Lambda finalist School (Coach House, 2014); and most recently, Trinity Street (House of Anansi, 2023). In the classroom, they bring their passion for reading and writing, and strive to create a welcoming, supportive, and interactive environment that inspires students to become skillful writers and readers.
