Audit Summary and Recommendations

Audit Summary

The arborist inventoried over 1,000 trees at KPU Surrey. The report divided the campus into 29 blocks, each representing similar geographic locations and conditions. Each block is summarized in the report with its own unique species composition, environmental assessment and recommendations.

It was noted that tree health at KPU Surrey suffers due to:

  • Overall lack of access to water on site
  • Low soil volumes
  • High heat exposure from large areas of concrete (parking lots, buildings, other hardscaping, etc.)

This was a common theme on the campus with the impacts of climate change also a contributing factor to tree health.
