Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee

A Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee (JOHSC) is made up of staff, faculty and administrative and university representatives working together to identify and resolve health and safety problems throughout the campuses. The five Health & Safety committees at Kwantlen Polytechnic University coordinate and promote health and safety activities and ensure a healthy & safe working environment for all employees.

The role of the Health and Safety Committee is to:

  • Assist in creating a safe and healthy workplace
  • Assist with employee concerns relating to health and safety
  • Promote compliance with applicable rules and regulations
  • Participate in worksite inspections
  • Participate in incident/accident investigations
  • Make recommendations to senior management
