Kwantlen grad first Canadian to win HDI Global Analyst of the Year

(METRO VANCOUVER, B.C.) After winning the provincial and national Help Desk Institute (HDI) Analyst of the Year awards, Minaz Jiwa, a Kwantlen Polytechnic University Bachelor of Information Technology graduate, was named 2009 HDI Global Analyst of the Year. The award was presented at the 2009 HDI World Conference on Technical Service and Support which was held recently in Las Vegas, NV.

This annual award recognizes the best technical support analysts from HDI North American Local Chapters. The award highlights the excellent work of analysts on the support center's front line. Nominees are judged on the following criteria: performance, quality of work, team orientation, ethics, technical aptitude, problem solving skills, and leadership.

Jiwa was nominated by his peers as a gifted analyst who not only has exceptional technical skills but also possesses the patience, understanding and interpersonal skills that make an outstanding analyst. He enjoys using his expertise to assist his teammates and customers, and to improve operational procedures. He is the first member of the Help Desk B.C. chapter and the first Canadian to win this prestigious award.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University brings with it a tradition of providing access pathways for students with different talents and abilities, and opportunities for all who are willing to work hard to realize their goals. Key to Kwantlen’s new mandate is an enhanced capacity to integrate research and external community engagement within a learning environment that places students at the centre of all that the university does.
