Kwantlen political science students weigh in on HST debate

(METRO VANCOUVER, B.C.) Kwantlen Polytechnic University students from the Kwantlen Political Science Society (KPSS) are hosting a public debate on the HST at the Richmond campus on May 12 from 1:00pm-4:00pm.

"It's important for students to be politically involved and to encourage political involvement throughout the community, as participation is one of the best methods of educating and making informed choices," commented student organizer Andrea Harvey.

The debate will feature former B.C. premier Bill Vander Zalm and Hugh Alley, part owner and operations manager of Alco Ventures Inc. and chair of the Public Affairs Committee of the Board of Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (BC Division).

“We're confident that this event will serve to enhance the public's understanding of all sides of this burning issue,” said Dr. Gregory Millard, Kwantlen political science faculty. “It's a vital part of our mandate as a university that we raise awareness and provoke discussion about matters that affect our community.”
