At KPU, Nutrition Month is celebrated every March to support your overall nutrition, food security and wellbeing as a student!
There a number of financial constraints that may prevent you from accessing nutritious food. We know many of you are dealing with food insecurity and we believe that access to healthy food is necessary for overall health and wellbeing! That's why we dedicate an entire month to supporting student's overall nutrition and food security!
Thank you to everyone who came out this year! Check out some highlights from our 2026 events below:
Free Lunch for Students
Student Health Promotion hosted pop-up lunches across four KPU campuses. Over 500 students came by to grab a warm, delicious, meal, and learn about nutrition & wellbeing support available to them. We were able to help fuel students during busy days of learning while creating welcoming spaces for connection and engagement!
Good food, good vibes, zero cost for students! <3
Nutrition Education Workshops
Registered Dietitian Whitney Hussain hosted two workshops at KPU - one at Surrey and one at Richmond - and shared all her tips around budget-friendly meal planning, smart grocery shopping and easy meal prep – designed with busy students in mind!
Participants got to eat some yummy food prepared by Whitney and students got to practice their chopping skills! We also discussed how to navigate food labels, setting SMART nutrition goals, and learned foundational food skills to support independent and informed food choices!
grab & go food pantries
In addition to the ongoing Grab & Go Food Pantry at KPU Surrey, a mobile food pantry was offered at KPU Civic Plaza, improving access for students who may be experiencing food insecurity and are unable to regularly access other campuses!
reach and impact
While Nutrition Month emphasized awareness and engagement, early indicators suggest strong reach and positive resonance among KPU students. Students expressed enthusiasm for the events, shared appreciation for access to food and nutrition-focused programming, and indicated interest in similar opportunities for the future.
