Journalism Degree Fast Track
Diploma or Work Experience? Fast Track into a KPU Journalism degree
Did You Know? If you already have a journalism diploma or work experience as a journalist, you can fast track into KPU’s Journalism program and complete your Bachelor of Journalism degree in as little as one year. Our program offers the flexibility to pursue studies part-time or full-time and to take many of your courses online. Graduates of our program work in journalism and communications, but have also gone on to other careers that require a bachelor's degree, such as law and teaching.
Do you already have a journalism diploma?
If you have a journalism diploma from Langara, BCIT or another school, you can receive transfer credit for those courses at KPU. In most cases, a two-year journalism diploma translates into the equivalent of two years of study at KPU.
Do you have work experience as a journalist?
You can receive course credit for your work experience through KPU’s Prior Learning Assessment Recognition (PLAR) program. More information about PLAR can be found here.
If you’d like to know more about either of these options, or have questions about KPU’s Journalism program, please contact department chair Tracy Sherlock at Tracy.Sherlock@kpu.ca
