Follow these easy steps to apply to the Foundations in Design Program at KPU:
Step 1: Apply to KPU

Step 2: Prepare Your Portfolio Package
Once you have completed your application, you will receive instructions on how to submit your Portfolio through an online submission platform. You will create a portfolio that showcases your potential as a designer.

Step 3: You’ll be notified of our decision
Regardless of your application status, you will be able to view the results of your Portfolio Review on your Online Self-Service Checklist within a month of your portfolio submission date.
Only once all entrance requirements for application to KPU and documentation submissions (portfolio and official transcripts) have been completed, then your application status will be updated and you will be informed of your application decision by KPU Admissions. It is in your best interest to complete your application checklist as soon as possible or your seat may be offered to another student who has completed their checklist before you.
Your application decision will be one of the following:
- Offered admission to the Foundations in Design program, or
- Waitlisted for entry to the Foundations in Design program, or
- Not accepted into the Foundations in Design program at this time. If you are not accepted into the Foundations in Design program, you are encouraged to develop your knowledge, skills, and portfolio and begin reapplying as early as October 1, 2019 for the September 2020 intake.
Step 4: Pay your deposit
If you are sent an offer to our program, reserve your seat by paying a deposit by the specified deadline. Details will be provided in your offer package from the Admissions Office.
Step 5: Register for classes
Admitted students who have paid the confirmation deposit will receive registration instructions.
