Hold and Secure is an emergency procedure intended to secure and protect occupants from a security threat occurring outside or nearby a KPU campus. This procedure is used when it may be more dangerous to evacuate a building than stay inside.
During a Hold and Secure, exterior doors will be closed and locked.
What might trigger a Hold and Secure
- A violent threat that is occurring in close proximity to a campus, but not directly targeting the campus. Police may contact KPU to advise the campus to entre into a Hold and Secure procedure
What to do
- Return indoors or do not go outside
- Classes and activities may continue to function normally, however no movement between buildings is permitted
- Remain calm and await further instructions
- Remain in the building until advised by university officials
- Report any suspicious activity to Campus Security
