Course Description

Join us for this intensive two-day workshop that prepares students in baccalaureate nursing programs (BSN & BPN) to work in a variety of clinical settings. KPU is aware of the emerging trends required of employees in the health care industry as well as best practices for patient safety and self-care. As a result, we offer learners the opportunity to gain access to; skills, professional and personal growth opportunities now maximizing the potential for growth outcomes, and preparing for entry into your chosen health care career. The workshop covers clinical and professional safety and wellbeing that includes techniques and strategies for horizontal bullying, cyber bullying, personal mental health and non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI).

Please note:  Applicants intending to register for Consolidated Clinical (PNUR 1130) are required to show proof of English proficiency.  Please see the Consolidated Clinical website for full details.

Course Format

This Pre-Clinical Course requires full participation by students in mentally and physically challenging scenarios. Students are asked to wear athletic shoes and clothing to both workshop days as the workshop format is based on interactive practice sessions, and physical activity. Students must come prepared to participate in all components of the workshop.

Course Cost

$300.00 CAD plus GST (includes a workbook), plus the application fee where applicable.  (Please note: All Faculty of Health, Professional Studies course fees are non-refundable/non-transferrable.)

Course Grade

For successful completion, students must attend both full days of the workshop. Upon successful completion, students will receive NVCI certification.
