Recognitions of Achievement

Recognition of Achievement in Language and Cultures (LANC)

To receive any of the following Recognition of Achievement, you must:

  1. Complete the Recognition of Achievement form (please see PDF below).
  2. Ensure you have a copy of your transcript.
  3. Bring both documents (1. and 2.) to your current or past instructor for approval and processing.

Recognition of Achievement - Language Level 1
(Cree, French, Japanese, Mandarin, Punjabi or Spanish)

A student who has successfully completed 6 credits in one language (with a grade of B- or higher in all the eligible courses) at KPU will receive a "Recognition of Achievement - Language level 1".

Recognition of Achievement - Language Level 2
(French, Japanese, Mandarin, Punjabi or Spanish)

A student who has successfully completed 9 credits in one language (including a 2nd year course or higher level, with a grade of B- or higher in all the eligible courses) at KPU will receive a "Recognition of Achievement - Language level 2".

Recognition of Achievement - Linguistics Level 1

A student who has successfully completed 6 credits in Linguistics (with a grade of B- or higher in all the eligible courses) at KPU will receive a "Recognition of Achievement - Linguistics level 1". 

Recognition of Achievement - Linguistics Level 2

A student who has successfully completed 9 credits in Linguistics (including a 2nd year course or higher level, with a grade of B- or higher in all the eligible courses) at KPU will receive a "Recognition of Achievement - Linguistics level 2". 

Recognition of Achievement in Language and Cultures (LANC)

A student who has successfully completed 9 credits in LANC (including two second year or higher courses with a grade of B- or higher in all eligible courses) at KPU will receive a "Recognition of Achievement in Language and Cultures". 

Minor in Language and Cultures – obtained after successfully completing:

  • 3 credits in a Linguistics (LING) course at the 1100 level of higher, plus
  • 3 credits in a language course at the 2200 level of higher, plus
  • 12 credits from courses offered by the Department of Language and Cultures at the 3000 level or higher, plus
  • 6 credits from courses at the 3000 level or higher selected from courses in the Department of Language and Cultures, or approved culture-related courses in other disciplines
