VISITING SPEAKER

Dr. Beth Dixon, of SUNY Plattsburgh, will be giving a talk to the department on Thursday, March 7, Cedar Building 2110, 4 to 6 p.m. The topic is:

Learning to See Food Justice: Stories about Food, Freedom, and Politics".  All are welcome. You can see an abstract of her paper here.

VISITING SPEAKER

Professor Rahul Kumar, from Queens University, is visiting our campus to give a talk on Monday, April 2nd, at 2:30 in the Surrey Conference Centre. Professor Kumar specializes in ethics, and his talk is entitled "Why Reparations?". Everyone is welcome.


VISITING SPEAKER IN CELEBRATION OF THE LAUNCH OF OUR NEW DEGREE

Dr. Thomas Hurka, Chancellor Henry R. Jackman Distinguished Chair in Philosophical Studies at the University of Toronto, will be giving a talk on Wednesday, Oct. 12th, 3 pm, in Cedar 1205A/B.  The talk is based on his book, The Best Things in Life.  Everyone is welcome!
 

Brown Bag Lunch Series 2010-2011

The philosophy department wishes to thank Evan Tiffany (Philosophy, SFU), Andrew Irvine (Philosophy, UBC) and David Silver (Centre for Applied Ethics, UBC) for the engaging talks they have offered this year. 


Visiting Speakers in March 2010. Brown Bag Lunch series.
Dominic Lopes (UBC) will give a talk entitled "Are Video Games Works of Art?" on Tuesday, Mar. 16th, noon to 2, in-room G1205A, Surrey.

Scott Anderson (UBC) will be visiting the campus on Monday, Mar. 29th, to give a talk entitled "Promises, promises: Can you obligate yourself to have sex with someone?" The talk will be held noon to 2, in-room G1205A.

Everyone is welcome.


Visiting Speakers Series
Several times a year the Philosophy Department at KPU hosts a talk by a visiting philosopher.  Look for posters announcing these events.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  Contact Patrick Findler or Michaela Lucas for more information.
