What if you could go back in time to when you were a Grade 7 student?
What would you tell your Grade 7 self?
What if you could share that knowledge with current Grade 7 students?
The YWCA Metro Vancouver runs after-school programs to help Grade 7 students in their transition to high school. A team of 4 to 6 volunteers deliver pre-planned curriculum on topics such as healthy living, social media, friendship, peer pressure, and conflict resolution to a group of Grade 7 students. As a volunteer, you will provide mentorship and support to students by leading discussions and games that help them develop a healthy self-esteem and good decision-making skills.

Program Logistics:
• 3 hours per week
• 9 weeks (February to April/May)
• Schools located in Vancouver, Surrey, and Richmond
• For program dates, times, and training: Spring 2020 schedule
What do I need to volunteer?
• We have volunteer roles for all ages, including Grade 10 to 12 high school students, post-secondary students, and adults.
• No previous experience required
• 2 professional and 1 personal reference
• Criminal Record Check

The Fraser Health Crisis Line is recruiting volunteers to provide assistance to people in the region who are experiencing emotional distress. No previous experience is needed as extensive training and ongoing support is provided. Our next training starts on August 24th and we are interviewing now.
Many volunteers report that their Crisis line experience has significantly helped them reach their educational and/or career aspirations, including acceptance into Graduate Programs, Policing, E-Comm 911, Social Work, Mental Health and related fields. Volunteers also tell us that they find the Crisis Line to be a rewarding and fulfilling experience, as they truly are making a difference.
