The Dean of Arts Teaching Award is presented annually to a KPU Faculty of Arts instructor in recognition of outstanding and innovative teaching practices that consistently encourage student success and academic achievement. Particular points of emphasis may include the following:
- Transformative impact
- Enthusiasm for the course material and field of study
- Encouragement of students' interests in the course and field
- Promoting and developing high academic standards
- Development of students' confidence through mentoring, tutoring, course design, and delivery
- Provision of opportunities for experiential learning (including research, creative work, service learning/community engagement, practicums, etc.)
- Design or delivery of innovative pedagogies or assessment methods
- Contribution to curriculum development
- Sharing teaching excellence and innovation within KPU and beyond

Nominations for the 2024 Dean of Arts Teaching Award open on Monday January 8, 2024 and are due by Thursday February 8, 2024.
