About the Students
Big Softea was inspired by second-year Brewing students Lindsey Bartram and Kevin Reid’s love of tea and beer.
Lindsey was studying for a degree in Physics when she decided to change direction and apply to the KPU Brewing Diploma. Compared to her other university experiences, she really enjoys the close community of students and instructors at KPU, who are encouraging and create a postive learning environment. When Lindsey isn’t in school or finishing a new crafting project, you’ll find her working in the KPU Brew Lab as a student assistant and talking all things beer with customers during Friday beer sales.
Kevin has a diploma in Broadcast and Media Communications and was working in film and TV, mostly on Hallmark movies, when COVID shut down much of the industry. His love of craft beer and the creative and technical side of brewing drew him to the KPU program. He really enjoys the community and awesome people in the craft beer industry and hopes to open his own brewery with his wife one day. Currently, Kevin is working at Strange Fellows Brewing in Vancouver.
PS: Kevin also happens to be a big softy, hence the beer name Big Softea.
