About the Students

KPU Brewing diploma students Donghwan Chang and Marcus Nicholls wanted to create an easy-drinking beer with notes of Summer from the addition of orange and tangerine peel for a citrusy burst.

Marcus has a passion for biochemical sciences and was pursuing a biology degree when we started working at Foamers Folly Brewery. He loved the atmosphere and community, and decided brewing was a perfect mix of creativity and his love of biochemistry. Marcus would like to open his own brewery one day that welcomes people of all ages, ethnicities and gender. When he’s not busy with school, you can find Marcus working (or studying!) at The Barley Merchant in Langley.

Donghwan is from Korea and had completed a WBA Concise Course in Brewing Technology but had no hands-on brewery experience, which is what attracted him to the KPU program. He loves the craft beer culture and the creativity involved with brewing, and wants to become a skilled brewmaster. Donghwan currently works at Dead Frog Brewery in Langley.
