Fall 2026 Orientation Leader Role Description 

 

Fall 2026 Orientation Leader Role 
Starting university can be overwhelming for new students. As an Orientation Leader, you’ll be essential in transforming those feelings of stress into excitement and confidence. By fostering connections, sharing campus resources, and contributing to a welcoming atmosphere, you’ll help create a positive and inclusive KPU community. 

 

Duties 
Orientation Leaders (OLs) will play a key role during New Student Orientation (NSO) by guiding 10-15 students through campus tours, leading icebreaker activities, and fostering a safe, fun, and inclusive environment for all.  

 

Time Commitment

  • All potential Orientation Leaders are required to participate in an interview. 

  • If selected, OLs are required to fully complete the following training sessions: 

    - Online training via a Moodle course prior to in person training (approximately 3 hours) 

    - In person all day training which will occur on both August 26 and August 27 at Surrey Campus (approximately 10 hours total) 

  • Each OL must be available to attend at least one New Student Orientation event (approximately 4 hours per event): 

    - Monday, August 31, at Langley Campus 

    - Tuesday, September 1, at Richmond Campus 

    - Thursday, September 3, at Surrey Campus 

 

Qualifications 

  • Must be a current KPU student who has completed at least 12 credits prior to applying 

  • Maintained a minimum CGPA of 2.00 or higher, and must be in good academic standing 

  • Comfortable with public speaking and leading a group of peers  

  • Works collaboratively with fellow peers, taking a leadership role where necessary 

  • Demonstrates responsibility, punctuality, and reliability throughout training and NSO 

  • Positive attitude and commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment
