New Student Orientation is…

Your opportunity to discover KPU, learn about services and resources, meet fellow students and classmates, receive guidance from senior students, and have a ton of fun!

  • Online Orientation Course

    Learn valuable and practical information about starting your studies like how to get your books, what services are available to you, the upass, and your KSA Health and Dental plan through our Online Orientation Course.

    • Complete at your own pace.
    • Engage, earn points & enter to win up to a $500 tuition waiver and other prizes!

    *This course is designed for domestic and international students. It is mandatory for all new incoming international students.

  • Community Orientations

    Community Orientations are specifically designed for the unique experiences of the students they serve.   

    Mature Student Orientation: 

    • Tuesday, August 23rd from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Surrey Campus

    International Live Virtual Orientation

    Indigenous Orientation: 

    * Registration is required to attend.

    Thursday, September 1, 2022 - Surrey, 9am to 3pm (TRADES, MECHATRONICS, CADD ONLY)

    Friday, September 2, 2022 - Surrey, 9am to 2pm

    KPU Welcomes You is the on-campus portion of your KPU Orientation!  With times scattered across three of our campuses, you’ll pick a time to come to that campus to learn all you need to know to hit the ground running.  At KPU Welcomes You, you’ll meet the O-Team who will help you meet new students, answer your burning questions and will guide you around the campus.  No matter how you decide to take your classes, we look forward to seeing you on campus at KPU Welcomes You! 

    * Registration is required to attend.

  • First Year Festival

    One week of flexible programming and activities open to ALL first-year students registered in classes in ANY program.

International Students

International students are required to attend Live International Virtual Orientation listed in the Community Orientation section above. We highly encourage all new international students to attend KPU Welcomes You if you are in Canada.

Visiting and Exchange Students

Please attend the Live International Virtual Orientation.  If you are in Canada, we highly encourage you to attend KPU Welcomes You.

KPU Tech Students

Trades students beginning in October are encouraged to attend Live Virtual Orientation.

Trades or CADD Students beginning in September are encouraged to attend KPU Welcomes You session on Thursday, September 1st.

Students with Disabilities

KPU offers Orientation programs that adapt to the needs of all KPU students, including students with disabilities. KPU is happy to provide modified orientations for students with individual needs on the day of the event, or on a later date by request.

Preparing for Orientation

  • Pre-order your KPU Card (Student ID) online. You can order your card up to one month before the start of classes.
  • Order your books online at
  • Check on your program/Faculty website to see if you have an additional Program Orientation or Information Sessions to attend.
  • International & Exchange students - Submit all required documents to KPU International.

New Student Checklists

Starting at KPU isn't quite as easy as just showing up in September. There are a number of tasks to complete before arriving and throughout the first few weeks to jumpstart your success. We've put together these tasks into downloadable checklists for your convenience.
