Our goal is to help you excel during your time at KPU and beyond, whether you are a first-year student, returning to university after time away, or journeying from the other side of the globe. We recognize that joining a university community can be overwhelming, so our orientation process is designed to support students in accomplishing their goals.

KPU Welcomes You is our New Student Orientation event. This event is to welcome new students to the KPU community and provide an opportunity to meet some of your classmates. It's also a great event to familiarize yourself with all of the services and resources KPU has available to you to help you succeed. We host KPU Welcomes You before the start of each semester (Fall, Summer, Spring).

Starting at KPU isn't quite as easy as just showing up in September. You need to complete a number of tasks before arriving and throughout the first few weeks to jumpstart your success. We've put together these tasks into downloadable checklists for your convenience.

Summer 2026 - New Student Checklist

Getting prepared and started for your first semester at KPU can be overwhelming. The following tasks are recommended to be completed within the timeline:

January	Accept your offer by paying your confirmation deposit in your KPU Student Account** Check out KPU’s Student Services Download and familiarize yourself with the myKPU app [For international students] Download the iCent app* [For international students] Apply and submit your student permit, eTA and/or Temporary Resident Visa (if applicable)
Feburary	Book an appointment with an academic advisor to assist you with course planning View your program details through the University Calendar View your program checklist through My Action Plan (MAP) Mark your calendars for Important Dates & Deadlines [For international students] Review the Pre-arrival webpage and videos* [For international students] Learn about your temporary insurance (Guard.me)* [For exchange and visiting students] Attend the mandatory Exchange and Visiting Student Welcome event (invitation to be emailed to you)
March	Register for your courses Pay your Tuition & Fees Save your course schedule and details
April	Join the Peer Mentorship Program! [For domestic students] Register for KPU Collective [For international students] New International Students will be automatically assigned an International Peer Mentor to support you in your first semester. [For exchange and visiting students] Learn more about the Global Buddy Program Apply for your KPU Student ID card Register for your in-person New Student Orientation Complete the Online Orientation Course via Community Moodle (self-paced)* Complete KPU100 (facilitated by The Learning Centre) Double check your course schedule, and plan your commute Tip: account for additional time to get to campus and locate your classrooms Use Google Maps, Trip Planner, or Next Bus to find real-time and scheduled transit information Taking the KPU Intercampus Shuttle? KPU Orientation Highlights

Curious about what to expect at New Student Orientation? Watch this highlight video to get an idea of the activities and learning! Students spend the day in faculty-based groups, led by student leaders. Students will get to know campus and find their classrooms, learn about KPU services and take care of essentials, meet new friends, and have fun along the way.
