2025 Summer & Fall Events

Tuesday, July 8 – Fruit Production Twilight Tour
6:30 – 7:30 PM

Join Dr. Rebecca Harbut, Chair of the Department of Sustainable Agriculture, for an evening tour exploring the fruit crops and production methods used on our farm.

Participants can meet in front of the dome onsite.

This event is free and open to the community—no registration required.

Saturday, July 12 – Flax Harvest Party
10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Due to growing interest in sustainable fibers, our students and faculty have been conducting trials to identify the best flax varieties to grow for both seed and fiber in our climate.

Join our students and volunteers, along with Dr. Kathy Dunster, as she shares her passion for sustainable fibers and guides us through the flax harvest, demonstrating the steps involved in collecting seeds and preparing flax for fiber.

This event is free and open to the community—no registration required.

Thursday, July 24 – KPU Farm Annual Open House
5:30 – 8:00 PM

Our annual Open House is a special occasion to thank our partners and celebrate the strong collaborations we’ve built. Join us for updates on KPU Farm, enjoy an evening in nature, connect with our team and students, and savor refreshments.

This event is open to partners, faculty, staff, students, and volunteers.

Tuesday, August 12 – Native Perennials Twilight Tour
6:30 – 7:30 PM

Join Dr. Alex Lyon to explore the variety of native perennial plants at KPU Farm and learn about the importance of introducing these species to our ecosystem.

This event is free and open to the community—no registration required.

Sunday, September 7 – Farm Festival

The Farm Festival is a large community event hosted in partnership with Kwantlen Polytechnic University and the City of Richmond.

This family-friendly festival invites community members from across the region to learn about growing food sustainably through interactive activities and displays. Visitors will explore a variety of crops, soil health, local farming practices, and much more. The event will also feature live music, a farmers' market, food trucks, and plenty of fun for all ages!

This event is free and open to the community—no registration required.

Tuesday, September 9 – Organic Farming Twilight Tour
6:00 – 7:00 PM

In celebration of Canada Organic Week, Dr. Mike Bomford will guide participants on a tour of KPU Farm, highlighting organic farming practices and their positive impact on the agro-ecosystem.

This event is free and open to the community—no registration required.

Twilight Tours

We welcome community members to join us for a free Twilight Tour at the KPU Farm on the second Tuesday of each month. The tours are guided by faculty and staff in the department of sustainable agriculture. Each tour has a different theme.
