KPU Day 2023

Dr Tracey Kinney led a series of workshops entitled "food for thought" where participants were invited to consider the assumptions they hold about food and the cultural connections we make to the foods that sustain us. Additional resources from the workshop can be accessed here:

Dr Jack Hayes Heads to Harvard

KPU History's own Dr Jack Hayes was recently invited to present a paper and chair a panel at the prestigious Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard University. The Conference, entitled "Environment in Asia" honoured the careers of two leading scholars in the field of environmental history - Peter Perdue (Yale University) and Robert Marks (Whittier College) - and offered a chance to reconceptualize the ways that we teach, research, and write about environmental issues.

Sydney recording her portion of the Juno Beach Virtual Tour

KPU History alumni Sydney Kadagies just returned to Canada after an extended internship at the Juno Beach Centre in Courseulles-sur-Mer, France. The internship at Juno Beach enabled Sydney to combine the knowledge of public history that she gained during her bachelor’s degree with her fluency in French. Sydney’s internship was so successful that the Centre offered her an extended placement as an administrative coordinator. She’s also featured in the new virtual tour of Juno Beach!

Some recent faculty-student collaborations in the department!
