Overview
To measure KPU's progress in achieving energy conservation and greenhouse gas reduction goals, KPU performs detailed tracking and analysis of energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.
This data is evaluated on a Campus-by-Campus basis as follows:
- Civic Centre
- Cloverdale
- Horticulture (part of the Langley Campus, but is metered separately)
- Langley
- Surrey
- Richmond
Base Year
Energy reduction and greenhouse gas reduction goals need to have a stable point of reference so they can be measured effectively. This is called a "Base year".
At KPU the "Base Year" is aligned with the BC Government's "Climate Change Accountability Act," which uses 2007 as the "Base Year" to measure progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Benchmarking
KPU uses internal and external benchmarking to evaluate energy consumption and to help identify energy savings opportunities to further reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
Energy records
KPU updates "Energy Consumption Records", which include greenhouse gas emissions, annually and have included a link below to share this information:
