At the Wilson School of Design, we build partnerships that bring designs to life inside and outside the classroom — researching, innovating, and helping shape the world we live in.
Research and Design (RAD) brings together researchers (faculty and students) and research groups from the Wilson School of Design, and connects them with collaborators from other universities, research institutes, industry, government, and community organizations.
RAD brings faculty expertise and student curiosity together to solve modern design problems. It's a space built for collaboration, where everyone involved benefits from learning and working with each other.
Our RAD faculty bring deep industry experience across:
- Human factors and ergonomics
- Thermoregulation
- User centred design/research
- Alternative transportation
- Material science (textiles)
- Sustainable design
- Food design
Students make up the heart of this work. Your peers may come from any of the programs we offer, and each individual brings something unique to the projects they join.
Whether you participate as Research Assistants on dedicated research projects, or complete research projects embedded within your courses, your efforts and ideas are key to each project’s success.
