It’s best to keep the software on your home computer up to date, including Antivirus protection.

Log out or Lock your Windows or Mac computer when not in use.
Use secure passwords.
Enter passwords manually, don't let the computer remember them.
Learn about and use the privacy and security settings on social networks.
Keep up to date with security issues by reading websites like sans.org
