Which Farm School is right for you?

KPU Farm Schools consist of Tsawwassen First Nation and Richmond. Each offer a distinct 7-8 month program that provides students with a strong foundation in the principals and practices of regenerative farming. These programs focus on hands on, experiential learning alongside industry professionals, supported by classroom learning to prepare students for a career in the industry.

The Tsawwassen First Nation Farm School (TFNFS) is a partnership between KPU and the Tsawwassen First Nation and is an immersion into integrated vegetable and livestock farming. The program incorporates a diversity of topics centered around regenerative agriculture including an Indigenous food systems perspective. Our certified organic farm is both an educational and working farm that sells its products through various Vancouver Farmers Markets, restaurants and a 100+ member CSA produce box program - all of which is supplied with veggies grown by our students!

Incubator

Incubator Program

If you want to take the next step in pursuing a career in farming after completing one of our farmer training programs, KPU Farm Schools offer an incubator program for graduates! Students can apply for their own plot of land at either farm school site to start their own farm businesses. Our incubator programs provide students with continued mentorship, access to land, shared equipment and tools, and community support from a network of regenerative farmers.

Student Success

  • Kyle York

"My Brewing Diploma and time at KPU opened doors for me that weren't previously open."

  • Iain Sutherland

"My time and what I learned in the KPU Brewing program gave me a fantastic base of knowledge that I am continuing to build on every day. I still refer to my notes from classes as a head brewer."

  • Ted Fine

"My KPU Diploma helps in so many ways: brewing theory and science, business best practices, marketing and sales, people management. Since my work experience to this point was more actual brewing and less business focused, it really helps having schooling in the latter three points."

  • Ashley Brooks

"The courses are very in-depth and they cover all aspects, from brewing in general to the science behind it and how to brew good beer. All of that has been extremely beneficial and definitely helped me get the head brewer position at Big Ridge when I first graduated."
