The following scenarios were created with KPU Peer Tutors to help their tutoring development and practice.
Accounting Tutoring Scenario
A tutee comes to the learning centre to seek your help with a practice case study from class. They have written a memo detailing their proposed solution and would like some advice on how it has addressed the case study. The instructor emphasized that the solution should be specific and integrate class concepts.
Essay Outline Tutoring Scenario
A tutee comes to the learning centre to seek your help with a practice essay outline for class. They have written an outline of the essay and will be writing the full essay in class. They are seeking your advice on the outline, as their instructor has asked them to go to the learning centre to get some help with their paper.
IT Coding Tutoring Scenario
A tutee comes to the learning centre with the following practice assignment and code. They are seeking your help because they are confused as to why the code isn't returning the correct result. They would like help to debug it and as you speak to them, you notice there is also some general confusion about the approach used to generate the solution.
Lab Report Tutoring Scenario
A tutee comes to the learning centre to seek your help with a lab report they are working on for class. They have written the report and are seeking your advice if it is clear and well written.
Presentation Tutoring Scenario

They would like your advice on the presentation they have prepared. Their instructor has suggested that they should go to the learning centre to get some help with the clarity of their presentation.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring Scenario
A tutee comes to the learning centre to seek your help with a reading comprehension practice activity for class. They have read the reading and responded to the instructor’s questions. They are seeking your advice on how well they have answered the questions. Their instructor has suggested that they should go to the learning centre to get some help with their writing.
