With 5 campuses, 140+ programs, and 20,000 full time students each year, Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is one of the largest and most exciting universities in Canada's Metro Vancouver region. It’s why thousands of international students from around 70 countries choose to study at KPU each year.
We have an in-house KPU International Recruitment Team in Canada which works closely with a network of Authorized Agents and In-Country Representatives that can provide on-the-ground support to ensure our prospective international students are supported and connected as they begin their educational journey at KPU.

How do Education Agents work with international students?
An agent can serve as both an advisor and a liaison between you and KPU1. While using an agent is not required to apply, if you choose to work with one, you can expect professional and ethical service. KPU does not require that you have an agent or consultant help you apply. However, you or your family may want to work with an agent to:
- Help you find an educational institution to meet your needs.
- Ensure that all your application paperwork is filled in correctly and delivered on time.
- Ensure that all your fees and additional documentation are delivered on time.
- Assist with applying for your visa and study permit (if they are certified by ICCRC)
1Working with an agent is your decision and it will not affect your status as an applicant to KPU
What should I consider before agreeing to work with an agent?
It is important to determine that your agent is reputable and trustworthy. Before you agree to work with one, ask:
- Do they have a business license in the city/country that you are in? What is the number?
- What qualifications do they have to work as an agent for Canadian educational institutions (see below)?
- Which Canadian institutions do they work with?
- Do they work with KPU?
- How many students have they sent to Canada?
- How long have they been doing this work?
- What fees do they charge for visa and study permit applications?
- Do they charge any other fees? Note: Most agents do not charge students and families for this work as the universities pay commissions to them.
Who are KPU Authorized Agent?
Among other things, KPU requires its agents to be certified in at least one of the following ways:
- They are an ICEF-approved educational agent
- They are a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC)
- If you’d like a list of KPU authorized agents in your area or want to verify that an agent is affiliated with KPU, please contact the Agent Relations and Performance Management Team
What can I expect from a qualified agent?
Agents are paid by educational institutions to help you. Your agent should:
- Provide you with information about KPU and programs that will suit your academic goals.
- Guide you throughout the application process (i.e. where to set up an account, where to find information, key deadlines, etc.).
- Inform you about the documents required for your application, helping you prepare everything needed to meet deadlines efficiently.
- Correspond regularly with you and encourage you to get your documents in and fees paid early, to give you the best chance at being accepted to your program.
- Help clarify the costs associated with studying abroad, including tuition, living expenses, and other fees. They should also inform you about available scholarships, grants, or funding opportunities that could help support your studies.
- Assist you with applying for your visa and study permit (if they are certified by ICCRC).
- Share information and tips on living and studying in Metro Vancouver
