Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU)

KPU is a public university in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. We offer more than 140 academic programs in 7 different faculties. About 20,000 students call KPU home every year, making it one of the largest universities in British Columbia.

The Polytechnic Approach

While some universities focus only on theory and textbooks, at KPU, Canada’s only polytechnic university, you learn through doing in one of our programs’ work-integrated learning opportunities, like work experience terms, practicums, or co-ops.

Through these hands-on, learning experiences you’ll work closely with industry professionals, gaining the practical knowledge and in-demand skills needed to graduate work-ready and prepared for success.

At KPU, you are our top priority:

  • KPU classes have a maximum of 35 students, and many of our classes are even smaller than that. These small class sizes let you develop a real connection with your instructors, peers, and industry professionals.
  • Our instructors have extensive real worldreal-world experience in their field, and a passion for teaching. Currently, 90+ researchers are working on active sponsored research projects.

That’s life as an international student, here in Metro Vancouver. With each campus strategically located across Metro Vancouver, you’re never far from accessing the services that you need.

KPU’s five campuses are home to incredible facilities, like our brewery and brewing lab, mechatronics lab, art studios, greenhouses, and more. And depending on your program, you’ll have access to the same equipment and advanced technologies used by your industry, like 3D printers, laser cutters, and ultrasonic welders.

  • Credentials Offered at KPU

    KPU offers a wide range of programs and credentials for both undergraduate and graduate students, including:

    • Certificates (6 months – 1 year)
    • Diplomas (2 years)
    • Associate’s Degrees (2 years)
    • Bachelor’s Degrees (4 years)
    • Post-Baccalaureate Diplomas (1-2 years)
    • Graduate Certificates (1-2 years)

  • Admission Requirements

    Undergraduate Admission Requirements

    To be admitted as a student in an undergraduate program, you must show that:

    You meet KPU’s Undergraduate English Proficiency Requirement You have graduated from high school (secondary school) or completed 24 or more undergraduate-level credits with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0*

    *Don’t meet this requirement? If you will be 19 years of age or older on the first day of classes, it’s possible to be admitted as a mature student at the discretion of the Registrar. Get in touch with us for more info.

    Post-Baccalaureate and Graduate Admission Requirements

    To be admitted as a student to a post-baccalaureate or graduate program, you must show that:

  • Scholarships and Awards

    Starting university in a new country is a major decision. It deserves a major scholarship.

    We know that post-secondary education is a big investment, and we’re here to help with that. We’re proud to offer a range of scholarships, awards, and financial assistance to all students studying at KPU.

    • Nearly $2 million in scholarships and awards are available to KPU students each year
    • $265,000 in scholarships and awards are reserved every year for new students
    • Major entrance scholarships of $20,000 (6 recipients) and $5,000 (18 recipients) are awarded each fall
