When to Meet Us?

  • You may meet with an International Student Advisor for your academic-related questions if you are in a Certificate, Diploma, Pathway program, or Associate Degree, or if you are in a Bachelor’s program but have completed less than 45 credits.
  • If you are in a Bachelor’s program and have completed more than 45 credits, or you are in a Post-Baccalaureate or Graduate Diploma program, please see a Degree Advisor.
  • All international students should meet with an International Student Advisor for all their immigration-related queries.

Not sure which advisor to see? Check here to see which advising team you should reach out to.

How to Connect with us?

International students can connect with an International Student Advisor through a scheduled appointment, available both in person and online.

Appointment

Appointments are up to 30 minutes long and provide dedicated one-on-one time with an advisor. They are the best option for students who:

  • Have multiple questions
  • Need support with immigration matters
  • Would like assistance with academic planning or registration
  • Need an advisor to review their individual situation in detail

How to Book?

Book your appointment through Advisor Connect.

In-person Appointments: Arrive at your selected campus at your scheduled appointment time.

Online Appointment: Join using the Teams meeting link provided by your advisor.

Please Note: Students who arrive more than 15 minutes late are marked as “no-show” and will need to book a new appointment.

Can't Make It to Your Appointment?

If you cannot attend your appointment, please cancel it as soon as possible so another student can use the timeslot.

If you are feeling unwell, please do not come to campus. Contact your advisor and they will arrange a virtual appointment instead.

Drop-in

During select peak periods throughout the year, including the start of a semester, registration periods, and other high-volume advising periods, the International Advising Team may offer drop-in advising sessions for quick questions.

Drop-in sessions are typically 10-15 minutes long and are intended for questions that can be addressed in a short meeting. Information about drop-in availability will be posted on this page when offered.

Our next Drop-in Advising sessions will be available on:

  • Wednesday, July 8, 1:30 - 4 PM, in-person, Surrey Main
  • Friday, July 10, 1:30 - 4 PM, online

When drop-ins are available:

In-person Drop-ins: Sign up at the front desk of the International Office 15 minutes before the scheduled start time.

Online Drop-ins: Click the ‘Join an Online Drop-in Session’ button below 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. Enter your first name as the display name and student ID #, and then wait in the virtual room to be connected to an advisor.
